When The Sun Won't Pierce

Drunk and high in a city that wasn't mine. Running down an alley with the late afternoon sun digging into my eyes. I stared at that sun, I let the light burn deep into my pupils and crawl into my soul. I felt so numb to it all. To remind myself I was still alive, I made a fist, punched the stone wall and continued to run down the alley grinding my knuckles into that wall leaving a trail of blood. On this cloudy morning I stared at the scars on my knuckles and decided to focus on what lies ahead.
