Images I made recently examining the current state of The World Trade Center site are in the June issue of Metropolis. Nearly seven years later the site has become one of the city's biggest tourist attractions and remains a giant pit. With plans to begin rebuilding this fall I am curious to watch the progression of the site and its meaning to New Yorkers, Americans and tourists alike. While shooting this job a man began yelling at me, "It's just a construction site! It's just a construction site!" I was a bit confused if he was angry about delay in rebuilding or that I, along with hundreds of others each day, was making photographs. Either way, it is all a bit unsettlingly.
