Having a conversation with someone and slowly stop listening to that person, their words become just sounds. No longer listening, but instead looking. Watching that person talk to you. Their eye lids open up, they blink, lips move, their hands fly out at you, their neck bobs in and out, a smile, a pout. To keep this going as long as possible, I throw out an enthusiastic "Yeah?" or "Whoa" or "Cool" when it appears like the right time. Indirect understanding, reacting based on implication, like when crossing the street, not looking to see if there are any cars coming and crossing based on watching the others around you. Reacting to others decisions can be a great exercise, but, be careful, most people are fools and not to be trusted....
